Severely resorbed mandible treatment: a 12-years follow-up case report

Rehabilitation of severely atrophic jaws has been a major problem for elderly patients and dentists. When conventional rehabilitation treatments are not possible, bone intervention is deemed necessary. Mandibles with less than 12 millimeters (mm) in height imply insufficient retention the prosthesis, intolerance to mucosal load, pain and, consequently, incapacity oral functions decreased facial aesthetics. Endosseous implants widely accepted therapy SRM rehabilitation, but it depends on amount available good prognosis. The Tent Pole technique based addition graft expansion soft tissue matrix, mainly cases 6 mm or rehabilitative endosseous dental implants. objective this report present update previously published clinical case reconstruction using tent pole technique, years follow-up. female patient, who underwent treatment at 63 age, received surgical mandibular cranial autogenous particulate graft. was favorable during control, CT scan showed that grafted stable volume mandible enlarged three dimensions.
